How Finance Quest makes money

Finance Quest earns money from people who pay for it. It does not earn money from the financial products it teaches you about.

What we charge for

Chapters 1 to 3 and the labs on the labs page are free. Chapters 4 to 18 are Pro.

  • Pro: $9.99 a month, or $99 a year.
  • Family: $14.99 a month. Pro for you and up to 4 other people.
  • Gift: $99 once, for one year of Pro. It does not renew.
  • Teams: custom pricing for organizations, set up through the teams page.

Pro and Family renew until you cancel. The refunds page explains cancellation, and the pricing page shows what each plan includes.

What we do not earn from

  • No commissions from any product or provider.
  • No affiliate links.
  • No sponsored picks or paid placement.
  • No selling of personal data.
  • No third-party ads shown on Finance Quest.

Some lessons explain how brokers and insurance sellers get paid, including commissions. That is there so you can spot a conflict of interest. It is not a referral.

The ads we run

We pay for ads for Finance Quest on Google Ads. Those platforms measure whether an ad led to a sign-up or a Pro checkout, so we can tell which campaigns bring paying learners.

  • Measurement loads only after you accept the cookie banner. If you decline, close it, or send Global Privacy Control, nothing loads.
  • The events are a page view, your first lab use on a start page, a sign-up, a trial start, and a purchase with the plan price. Gift purchases are not reported.
  • Events carry no email, name, or user ID. The only identifier is the Stripe checkout session ID, used so one purchase is not counted twice.
  • We keep ad personalization turned off. The platforms still see the address of the pages you visit, including any campaign tags in it.

What we track and why

  • Progress and saved results. To show where you are in the course. Without an account they stay in your browser. With one, they sync so they follow you across devices.
  • Usage analytics. PostHog and Vercel Analytics show which pages and labs get used, so we can fix what does not work. They run only after you accept the cookie banner.
  • Campaign source. If you arrive from a link with campaign tags, we note the campaign, the landing page, and the referring site. It stays in your browser until you sign up or subscribe. We skip it if you decline cookies or send Global Privacy Control.
  • Errors. Sentry reports crashes and slow pages so we can keep the site working. Session replay needs your cookie consent.
  • AI coach questions. They go to Anthropic and OpenAI to be answered.

The privacy policy lists every service that receives data and what each one does.
