Will my balance cover bills before the next payday?
With a $1,000 starting balance, $1,200 rent on the first and a $3,000 paycheck on the fifteenth, the modeled lowest balance is -$200. The month ends at $2,800 if there are no other events. Moving the paycheck to the first still leaves a modeled same-day gap because this lab subtracts expenses before adding income. The calendar's closing balance and the timeline's lowest balance answer different questions.
Finance Quest is educational. It is not financial advice, and no calculator here knows your full situation.
Income can exceed expenses for the month while a bill before payday takes the balance below $0. Monthly averages do not model that timing.
No. The lab keeps the original first date and counts fourteen-day intervals across months and years.
The lab places it on the last valid day in a shorter month. A later month returns to the original 31st.
No. It is a model using the events and starting balance you enter. Check actual posting dates and pending payments with the account provider.
A sample month. Change the dates and starting balance to see the gap before a deposit. This planning model assumes expenses clear before income on the same day. Actual bank posting times, pending transactions, weekends and fees can change the balance. Weekly and every-two-week schedules keep their first-date anchor across months. Monthly dates use the last day when a month is shorter, then return to the original day. The starting balance applies only to the selected month; it does not carry forward automatically.

The original one-time examples use days in the selected month. New events use a fixed first date. Changing the month does not reset recurring schedules.
